Growing up in South Memphis without his father, Meka Egwuekwe could have let his circumstances hold him back. Instead, he leaned on education, community, and faith to write a different story.

From teaching himself programming as a kid to earning degrees from Morehouse and Duke, Meka proved that where you start doesn’t determine where you end up. But what inspires me most is how he refused to let racism and doubt in the tech industry stop him. He worked harder, earned his master’s degree, and added so much value that he became indispensable.

And then he gave back. As co-founder of CodeCrew, Meka is creating opportunities for thousands of underrepresented students to thrive in tech. His journey is a powerful reminder that success isn’t about avoiding obstacles. It’s about preparing for opportunities and lifting others as you climb.

Watch the full interview to hear how Meka turned resilience into purpose and why his story will inspire you to do the same.
