The Confidence to Go For Your Dreams

Do you ever think back on situations in your life and laugh at yourself about what you were scared to do then?

For me it was my late 20’s and I refused to wear a swimsuit (and definitely not a bikini).  One of my sisters lived in the Miami area, and my other sister and I had flown in to hang out with her. We stayed in a cute, boutique hotel on the beach.

When we got ready to head to the beach, they put on bikini’s. I put on a t-shirt and shorts (I didn’t even want to wear the shorts because I hated the way my legs looked). My sisters insisted I wear a swimsuit, and gave me one. We went to the beach, and I tuned everyone out (no one was probably looking at me anyway) and enjoyed myself with my sisters.

Nearly 20 years later, I still have insecurities about my body. But I am working on them, even harder now that I’ve learned that what they say about your 40’s is true.

Most importantly though, I am more confident in myself. That’s EVERYTHING about myself.

For my 44th birthday, I went to the beach again. This time in Galveston, Texas.

I’m much “healthier” than I was 20 years ago when I wouldn’t wear a swimsuit, but I embrace all that I am and all that life has used to create me so beautifully and imperfectly special.

Being bullied and called a boy in elementary school and the lack of self-confidence I created myself as an adult, limited me far beyond not wearing a swimsuit.

But it taught me many valuable lessons about confidence and what it takes to build it.

Goodbye Corporate America

And it was that confidence that led me to leaving my amazing corporate career when my inner voice said, “Summer, go for your dreams!”.

On June 5th, I’ll celebrate 10 years since the day I left my job. My marketing career, and a job I worked very hard to get but knew I had to leave when I discovered my purpose.

Are you living a life of limits? Is confidence holding you back from wearing that swimsuit or keeping you from going for your dreams?

Watch for my countdown to my 10-year anniversary where I’ll share tips and lessons learned to help you to build the confidence to go for your dreams. Plus, I’ll challenge you with specific activities to get you on your way!

Hope you’ll join me on this journey and create the journey you dream of too!
