This Isn’t the Life I Was Supposed to Have

I posted this on Facebook yesterday, and I thought it was worth adding to my blog. I noticed in my timeline today that a lot of people are disappointed with where they are in life or how things have turned out for them. And I just want to encourage you and myself at the same time and let you know that almost EVERYTHING in my life is different than I expected or wanted.

I never wanted to be a teen mom. Didn’t want to go to college close to home… Wanted to move far away. Never wanted to be a single mom. Never wanted to be divorced. Didn’t want to be single at 35. Wanted more kids for my son to grow up with. Wanted a child by some time I actually know and loved….preferably a husband. Never thought I’d be a grandmother at 34.

Thought I’d have a perfect relationship with my son. Never thought I would have so little support and have to raise my son alone. But that’s my life. And yours is yours. I’ve made the best of it and you can too. God’s plans aren’t always understood, but I still trust that He knows best and one day it’ll all make sense. In the meantime, I’ll keep telling everyone how imperfect I am and how I don’t have the life I would have chosen.

But I will treasure the life I have. #sowhat
