Prisoner to Pastor, DeAndre Brown S.O. What! Success Story

Several years ago I was asked to join the board of directors for a new non-profit charter school that wanted to come to Memphis, Pathways in Education. We had a small board of only three, and when one of our board members had to leave the board DeAndre Brown joined us.

He became a part of the board just in time to attend our annual retreat which is always held near San Francisco or Denver. This year we were going to Denver, and as you’ll see in the interview, we bonded as we ran through the airport nearly missing our flight. Our third board member, Bill Frederick, basically held the door plane open for us.

It was on this trip that I learned a bit of DeAndre Brown story, his humor, his resilience, and his awesome impact. From legislation to programs through his own organization, he became a face for change and care for those dealing with challenges to re-entry after serving sentences.

In this episode of S.O. What! Success Stories check out my interview with a powerhouse and an amazing asset to this community.
