What It Really Means to Live Boldly

What does it really mean to live boldly?

For many people, being bold is about confidence, risk-taking, or standing out in a crowd. But for me, it has meant something deeper. Living boldly has meant choosing to move forward when everything in me wanted to stop. It has meant saying “S.O. What!” to obstacles, expectations, and even my own doubts.

Living boldly doesn’t always mean being fearless. Sometimes it means being scared and doing it anyway. It means making hard choices, trusting yourself, and taking ownership of your story even when that story doesn’t look like anyone else’s.

When I became a teen mom, no one would have imagined the life that followed. But every decision—to stay in school, to work hard, and to believe in myself even when others didn’t—became part of a bold journey that shaped who I am today. It led me from teenage motherhood to corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, and eventually to founding the S.O. What! Foundation, where I now help others overcome obstacles and excuses to create their own version of success.

Recently, I had the opportunity to share my story with Bold Journey, a platform that highlights people who have faced challenges and chosen courage anyway. In my feature, I opened up about what it takes to live boldly when life doesn’t go as planned, how to stay committed to your purpose, and what I’ve learned about confidence, faith, and resilience along the way.

As you read, I hope it inspires you to reflect on what living boldly looks like for you. Because the truth is, boldness doesn’t always come with fanfare. Sometimes it’s a quiet decision to keep moving forward, to believe again, or to start over.

Every act of courage counts.

So I’ll ask you this:
How are you choosing to live boldly right now, even when it’s not easy?
