Why I’m a Proud Member of the We Do Not Care Club and What S.O. What! Really Means
If you haven’t heard of it yet, the We Do Not Care Club is a powerful movement created for women navigating perimenopause and menopause who are choosing to release the pressure to please, perform, and pretend.
At 46 with menopause in full effect and a breast cancer diagnosis I didn’t see coming, I am a proud member of the We Do Not Care Club.
We’re done with the unrealistic expectations.
Done with the shame.
Done with letting other people’s opinions dictate how we live, lead, and love ourselves.
And I absolutely love it.
I love the confidence. I love the clarity. I love the freedom it gives women to say, “No more.”
And I am so happy for the success woman who started it, @justbeingMelani, is seeing and the empowering conversations she’s sparked. The We Do Not Care Club gives women permission to care about themselves and stop caring about what never really mattered in the first place.
It resonates so deeply because I’ve been on this journey for a long time. Nearly 15 years agoI started the S.O. What! Movement. And like the We Do Not Care Club, it was born from lived experience, healing, and the desire to empower other others.
At the time, some people misunderstood it.
They thought “S.O. What!” meant I didn’t care. That I was dismissing my pain, or pretending my challenges didn’t shape me. Even today when I get to speak all over the world and have my programs and curriculum in schools throughout the country, the initial reaction to, “S.O. What!” that you do not care.
But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
S.O. What! means this:
- Yes, that happened.
- Yes, it was hard.
- But now I’m choosing to grow, heal, and move forward—anyway.
It’s not about not caring. It’s about caring more about the solution than the shame.
More about what’s next than what hurt you.
More about healing than hiding.
Although I am a member of the We Do Not Care Club and do not care about many things anymore, there are some areas where I care deeply. About my life, my legacy, and helping other women realize that their story isn’t over.
That’s why I created the S.O. What! Success Sisters Community. I wanted to create a space where women who’ve been through some things come to rebuild their confidence, rewrite their story, and find strength in sisterhood. A space where I could answer the questions I get from women and where I could share everything I am and everything I learn while helping other women do the same.
So yes, I’m waving my We Do Not Care Club flag with pride.
And I’m also standing strong in the S.O. What! Mindset because both lead to the same destination: healing, power, and purpose.
If you’ve ever felt misunderstood. If you’re learning to let go. If you’re ready to care about yourself in a new way then you belong with us.
Join the S.O. What! Success Sisters Community today and connect with women who aren’t pretending anymore. We’re real, we’re resilient, and we’re rooting for each other.
