A few years ago at the National Speaker Association’s annual Influence conference, Dr. James Smith Jr. invited a few newer speakers to join him for lunch. We joined him, and I was blown away as I learned some of Dr. James Smith Jr.’s journeys and how long he had been in business and a part of the organization I had just joined. Soon after that, I attended one of his workshops that helped me to become a better speaker and then he even invited me to speak to his students and hired me to speak too!
We started as strangers, and in true NSA fashion, he quickly welcomed me and offered to help me (and others). Just as quickly he became an incredible mentor and a special friend.
Part of that friendship has included me learning how the experienced speaker who studied and teaches authenticity is so eloquently vulnerable and equally powerful.
