Single Moms: Keep Your Dreams Alive

Single mothers out there, keep your dreams alive because God fulfills them.

By the time I went to graduate school to study for my MBA, I had already achieved a lot in my career and life. Now, I wanted a relationship for myself and a father figure for my son. I had dated in high school, during college and after college. But it was always a challenge balancing dating with bringing up my son. The other challenge was limiting what he was exposed to from my relationships. While I had dreams of a successful relationship which could potentially lead to marriage, I was patient and careful with my son. Dating as a single mother was a journey. But I can look back and say God blesses us with our desire. The key: do your part, stay faithful and keep doing what is right.

I would later get into a new relationship with someone who wanted to be with me and a role model for my son.

How that story ends is a tale for another day. My brand is S.O What so that should give you a clue. Or you can read my first book to learn more. Regardless of how the story ended, during that time in my life, I learned why it’s important to keep your dreams alive. And there is hope no matter what the situation you find yourself in.

There is hope:

  • for your career even when progress is slow
  • for your children when you seem to be sacrificing so much for them
  • for romantic relationships which seem to elude you at all turns.

As always you have a part to play in experiencing the desired transformation. In this case, keep learning, keep developing yourself, practice self-love, and keep hope alive. Keep your dreams alive because God fulfills them.
